The Crucible

The Crucible: Mass Hysteria. The Crucible, by Arthur Miller is based on historical events of the witch trials, which took place in the small village of Salem, Massachusetts. A colony made up mostly of Puritans, a religious group that was obsessed with purity “Your name in town-it is entirely white, is it not?” (Miller. P.12). The Puritans religious beliefs ensured a close-knit community that safeguarded them against any and all infiltrations from outside sources.
