Tamarind Mem and Joy Luck Club comparision essay

The I.S.U experience I had this year was very interesting because I had the opportunity to compare two novels with a very unique relationship. The first novel, written by Anita Rau Badami, was called Tamarind Mem and the second one, which was written by Amy Tan, was called The Joy Luck Club. The main themes of the two novels were that they both compared two cultures and dealt with mother-daughter relationships as well as they both had characters that were constantly in search of themselves. I saw that in both novels the daughters seemed to always be in search of themselves as well as they were constantly trying to figure out why their mothers acted the way they did at times.
