What is it?
Peer groups are people who you hang out with that are about your age. They can be people you think are really "funky dudes" (you would really like to be like them), or people about the same as you in age and ability. They can be people you know or people you see on TV, in movies, in bands or around the place.
Peer pressure takes place when a child does something he or she does not want to do as a result of being pressured by peers. Whether it leads to pink hair or body piercing, peer pressure is a powerful reality and many adults do not realise its effects. Peer pressure is a part of almost all children's lives. All children experience peer pressure and give in to it at one time or another.
