The first tattoos were used by the Egyptians in 2000 BC. They are made by putting colors under the skin. The color is put with a sharp needle. Color tattooing was found by the Maoris of New Zealand. Tattooing came popular spreading though China, India, and Japan. Explorers from Europe found out about tattoos and the practice spread across seas. Today everyone likes and wants tattoos. Tattoos can found on people ranging from gang members to models.
Tattooing instruments have been found dating back 38,000 BC. Artifacts relating to tattoos have been found on every continent in the world. In Egypt only the woman had tattoos. On other continents men preferred to have picture tattoos on themselves.
