What does the word blind or blindness bring to mind? Maybe an image of someone walking with a cane out in front of them or possible someone being lead by a seeing eye dog. Most likely it brings to mind people who are vision impaired. But if one looks up the word in Webster’s Thesaurus (39), there would be a list of words as follows: sightless, unmindful, rash, visionless, ignorant, unconscious, oblivious, unknowing… That list doesn’t seem to be describing the vision-impaired but people that are not knowledgeable of what is going on around them, even with 20/20 vision.
