1837-A critical year
|
The year 1837 was a critical year to the United States because two great historical events took place. An economic depression occurred mid - 1837 and lasted for 4 years, which made it the biggest slump in the economy thus far. The biggest slave rebellion in the history of the U.S. also occurred this year thanks to one man, Nat Turner. This year was very important to the history of our country because it brought things that needed improvement to the attention of our government. The economy needed serious help; and the slave issue needed serious speculation and review.
The Panic of 1837 started during Andrew Jackson’s presidency, but it boomed during Van Buren’s. Many things caused the fall of the American economy that occurred 1837.
