John Simpson Kirkpatrick

I am doing John Simpson Kirkpatrick for my essay. John, who was commonly known as Jack, was born on the 6th of July 1892 in South Shields, England. He dropped his name Kirkpatrick because he thought a deserter from the Merchant Marines would not be accepted into the army. He enlisted in Perth just three weeks after World War 1 broke out. He is a hero because he and his donkey’s saved over 300 men in the 24 days that he was there.Simpson decided to work as an independent worker and not report back to ambulance headquarters. He was considered a deserter until his Commanding Officer saw the work
