1. initial reactions to war
At the start of the war people were exited and many thought it would to join to impress girlfriends, family ECT others wanted to join to defend their country and serve their king and country. Some people joined because it seemed a better life in the army that it was at home or work, maybe because of crowded conditions or nasty bosses ECT but many just wanted to travel.
Methods of recruiting included propaganda posters, witch often used comments like, ¡§we French workers warn you, defeat means slavery, starvation and DEATH.¡¨ And ¡§it¡¦s your country, defend it!¡¨
