After I read “Fat and Happy” by Mary Worley, I felt that I could relate to some of the views in the article as someone who used to be fifty pounds overweight. Worley begins by informing us of her views of how the world perceives fatness. The author states “Those who are fat quickly learn to be deeply ashamed of their bodies and spend their lives trying to become what they are not and hide what cannot be hidden”. Worley then describes a life changing experience that changed her views on being fat. She attended a convention hosted by the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance. Worley was amazed by how everyone there was so open and proud of their body. She also states how there was a Doctor who spoke about myths of being fat tha
