Hegel: How Passions Move History
|
For Hegel the final goal of the world is freedom and the actualization of freedom. This comes by way of the Spirit. The objective Spirit underlines all of history and therefore history is above all the history of freedom. However, in order for history to even come about there needs to be a starting point. It has to be something to start people into action. Extraordinary events cannot take place without the people who are behind them. History in its entirety, the events that shaped the world, would never have come about had it not been for the passions and needs of the people.
