Introduction
A tuning fork was used in this experiment to tune the amplifier to a specific frequency. The beating sound was used to determine that the audio generator and the tuning forks frequency became closer. When the rapid beating slowed until only one or two beats per second were heard, this meant that resonance occurred (or was close to occurring) and the two were in tune. Resonance is when the driving frequency matches the natural frequency of oscillation
The first experiment dealt with quarter waves. In quarter waves resonance be described by a sine graph. The second experiment dealt with half waves. In half waves resonance can be described by a cosine graph.
