The Egyptian Pharaoh boldly overthrew an established religion to impose upon the people the new idea of monotheism. He embraced the sun god Aton with exclusivity that paralleled Monotheism. The 18th Dynasty Pharaoh was not always the “servant of Aton”. Neither was his name always Akhenaton, reflecting this servitude.
