The photographer I chose to write on is Ruth Orkin. I chose to write about Ruth because her photos catch people in a playfully honest and straightforward light. I admire the fact that many of her photos are of economically poor people yet she seems to capture happiness and bliss in them doing their everyday activities. I have also found that when I look at many of her photos it makes me think of past memories I have had in my life. For example: Ruth has a photo of a group of children playing cards. In this photo the children are quite dirty and their card table is an old wagon. It reminded me of when I was little.
