Nineteen years ago, people had taste. None of this “I’ll shoot ‘cha in your chest, I’ll wet cha!!” This is a quote by Steve Harvey, during one of his stand-up routines, where he mocks today’s songwriters, more specifically: rappers. He went on to add, “I don’t wanna hear no shit about me getting shot in the chest, my goddamn tee-shirt wet.. I’d rather have my tee-shirt wet from makin’ love… I don’t wanna get shot to get wet.”(Steve Harvey) His point was simple: Back in the day, artists wrote about things in life that mattered; Instead of careless sex, the topic was love; Instead of drugs, the topic was relationships. We’ve come all the way from songs like “Wake me up before you go-go” –Wham!, an upbeat classic that made it to #4 in 1984
