Investigation into the use of a Light Dependant Resistor (LDR) with Regards to Making a Measurement
Aim
To design and build a sensor that is able to measure the distance between the LDR and the Source of the light, given that we know the resistance.
What is an LDR?
An LDR is a photosensitive cell i.e. it is sensitive to light. As light falls upon the surface of an LDR electrons are released inducing a greater current. Therefore the more light that falls upon the LDR the greater the current will be. Furthermore the Resistance should decrease, as Resistance and Current are inversely proportional meaning that as Current increase Resistance must decrease in theory.
