Role-playing of the Characters of Shakespeare
“Yet herein will I imitate the sun, who doth permit the base contagious clouds to smother up his beauty from the world, that when he please again to be himself, being wanted, he may be more wond’red at by breaking through the foul and ugly mists of vapor that did seem to strangle him” (Act 1.2, 200). This quote was spoken by Prince Hal in Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part One, about his un-princely like actions that he had done throughout most of his life. This play, and Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night contain characters that are clearly shown wearing “masks”, whether or not to obtain love, respect, or purely for the reason to look the best when you “take off the mask”, such as Prince Hal’s character
