Because Harland Sanders founded and developed his Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant chain over half of a century ago it is clear that through his leadership the franchise possesses a deep and respectable background and history. Sanders was born in 1890, and in 1930 Harland was named a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Laffoon. Around the time Harland began to develop his franchise fast-food franchising was considered still in its infancy, which causes some people to view Sanders as a pioneer in the industry. It was the year 1952 when Sanders began his travels across the United States in search of potential franchisees to establish an outlet that would sell the soon-to-be-famous Colonel Sanders Recipe Kentucky Fried Chicken.
