Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is the inability to maintain attention and control activity. ADD can prevent a child from doing well in school and reaching his/her potential. Symptoms include impulsivity, inability to pay attention and hyperactivity. ADD does not effect how smart a child is. It is usually first detected by a teacher. The best way to test for ADD is testing to rule out a learning disability and then seeking professional help from a pediatrician.
