The textile and garment industry’s production and trade is widely spread out over the globe. The industries are largely interrelated, with over 50% of textiles produces go in to the garment industry. At least 20 million workers are officially employed in the industry, and many more are employed from home and in factories, so it is hard to get a true estimate of the sheer size of this industry (Dicken 2003).
