Plato’s argument of why we must control the storytellers starts off with the question how do we educate our men? Their education includes physical training for the body and music and poetry for the soul. With this in mind, Plato thinks that education should start in music and poetry before physical training. Since there are true and false stories, the men should be educated but in the false one first. Usually when the storyteller tells a stories, these are false with some truth in them before the physical training starts.
