What is the purpose of Human Resources, what are the roles and responsibilities? How does the HR department influence the way a corporation operates and interacts with its employees? I will address these questions in some detail with references as to how InFocus Corporation (my employer) operates within their Human Resource department.
First let’s define what Human Resource Management is; “practices and policies you need to carry out the people or personal aspects of your management job” (Gary Dessler).These functions include:
• Conducting job analysis (do not want to hire wrong person for the job)
• Planning labor needs and recruiting job candidates
• Selecting job candidates
• Orienting and training
• Wages and Salaries
• Incent
