The college at Amparo, Brazil offers a variety of services to underprivileged children, including haircuts. This photojournalist, Carlos Alberto Vilas Boas captured these children, one waiting patiently and the other receiving, as he was passing by. This photo was submitted for the 2004 Popular Photography and Imaging photo contest and received third prize. To me, this photograph captures the reality of poverty and the people it affects. It is a window into the life of another, an impoverished child.
