Glogged Gears of the Mind and Body-The Man that was Used up

In the societies of modern times, people have different beliefs, different values and different standards. Some value their lives, while others may be content to throw it all away on a whim. A single person may find their live to intertwined with greatness, only to be ruined and end in shambles. One act can lead you down a path of destruction and sorrow; many acts can have but a far worse effect. The true value of life and humanity can be neglected, wasted, even used up. This is the case in the short story “The Man that was Used Up”, by Edgar Allen Poe. Although set in a pre-modern era, the story may still be relate to modern life.
