Stem Cells: Morally Acceptable or Unacceptable
What do religion, Alzheimer’s disease, and human embryos all have in common? They have all become part of the ethical struggle that is stem cell research. Peter Singer, an ethics scholar and professor at Princeton University, states his opinion that the use of stem cells is morally acceptable and should be researched more widely. A pastor in the Lutheran Church, Russell E. Saltzman, holds true to his religious beliefs that using stem cells is ending human lives in the earliest form. Whether or not the practice of using stem cells is morally acceptable is a matter of personal opinion, but these two authors have published their own opinions in hope of persuading reader’s opinions.
