In today’s society many businesses appear to be heartless corporations trying to increase their profit margins by any means. But many companies achieve high profits by showing that they actually care about their customers. In an article I found on the Ethical Corporation Magazine web page Mallen Baker shows that a strong social responsibility can help a company become the best and stay there.
The article begins by relating the story of an insurance claim that would have been denied if not for the compassion of Northwestern Mutual. The policy had not been issued due to a delay in medical records from the family’s doctor. Although the company was not legally bound to pay the claim they did so anyway because it was the right thing to do
