Cicero is among the great philosophers of all time. He expanded upon the theories of Plato and Aristotle. Born the son of a man who possessed moderate means, Cicero used his intellect to rise above his station in life. This was to the agony of Caesar, who eventually came to view Cicero as a necessary evil. Cicero was forgiven for his support of Pompey against Caesar, during the civil war, and he was allowed to live in Rome.
