Machiavelli’s idea of the ideal ruler and the pre-Renaissance ideals for the ruler of a kingdom has many comparisons. Niccolo Machiavelli wrote The Prince, a book that talks about and teaches how and why a prince should rule his territory and deal with his subjects. There are two topics of discussion and comparison that will be evaluated. These are how to get and maintain the rule over a territory and whether or not it is better to be loved or to be feared. Through these two topics, Machiavelli will describe how a prince should act and think in order to be a strong and effective ruler.
