When Copper Sulphate is added to iron, a displacement reaction happens. As a result of this reaction, HEAT is produced because the reaction is exothermic.
The brainstorm above shows all the variables that have an effect on the reaction and the final temperature. I will use all of these variables in my investigation (except the Copper Sulphate).
I am going to investigate how long it takes for a displacement reaction to happen by collecting different amounts of iron filings and putting them in with 100ml of Copper Sulphate (that will be fixed) that is 1 molar in strength.
I will use other variables such as
• Time (for all the experiments to be fair in the equal time they have for the reaction to take place)
• The Container (
