In a binary system, like that of the United States, problems emerge when we see other cultures as different from that of our own. When examining another culture it is extremely difficult, especially for Western societies, to get an accurate view of the other side of the world because they are in a position of great power. This power stems from describing a society from an outsider’s point of view. In other words, the people within the society are not given a chance at defending their ideas, thoughts, and actions in order to better clarify certain situations.
