Making Ends Meet: How Single Mothers Survive Welfare and Low-Wage Work
Author Christopher Jencks discovers some interesting facts during his research for his article “ Making Ends Meet-How Single Mothers Survive Welfare and Low-Wage Work”. He addresses both sides of the issue in his pursuit to find out how single mothers are affected by government policies as well as how our legislative officials view this issue and what changes may affect the current programs. His article contains case studies on recipients currently receiving government welfare, housing and Medicare subsidies. I do agree with his statement about our children and it is an argument that should be addressed to improve the economic status of single mothers.
