Introduction
This presentation attempts to define marriage generally and in Islam as well as put forward thoughts on early marriage/forced marriage. It also explores the link of early marriage with a reproductive health issue known as vesico vaginal fistula (VVF). Through analysis of causes of VVF and the reason why early marriage takes place, such link has been found to be indirect. In fact, both early marriage and VVF could be said to share two components in common, poverty and ignorance.
