What Is Courage

What is courage? Courage is the quality of mind that allows one to face danger with confidence, resolution, and gain a firm control of oneself. Although many characters show courage, in this novel Atticus Finch is the most courageous character. He showed moral courage when he defended a black man, and stood up for his beliefs even when no one else would. He also showed courage when he went to the jail house to protect Tom Robinson. One of the many ways Atticus Finch lives up to his definition of courage, is by defending Tom Robinson on trial. Tom Robinson is a black man who was falsely accused of raping a white woman. Although Atticus put up a strong fight in defending Tom, everyone still knew he would probably be found guil
