In the puritan style of life during the 1700’s accusations of witchcraft were all over. However during this time the citizens of towns such a Salem got caught up in a frenzy or a fad of just accusing people without thinking. These people were judged on their godliness rather than their personality, or character. Without thinking people were accusing members of their own family or their close friends of witchcraft. People they have known all their lives, and people deep down they know as good people they were so quick to accuse. In the “Crucible” the men are skeptical of the accusations because of how quickly people are accusing one another.
