The novel A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess is a satire on modern
society and its philosophies about good versus evil and moral
decisions. The main philosophy that Burgess presents is that both good
and evil are essential in a truly free society. Without the choice
between good and evil, the world would be based on oppression (Aggeler
61). This is the basis for Burgess' satirical society, wherein freedom
could not exist. This is satirizing modern society, as most people
believe that all evil must be eliminated in order for people to live
