It is essential that information be backed up by facts. Say that you read in the school newspaper that there was aliens living in the cafeteria at Shakopee Jr. High. Off the bat, would you believe it? Of course not! You would want to know how they knew. You want proof. Did they see the aliens, or how do they know? That’s why facts are important because without facts, why believe it?
One reason it is important to back up facts is so that we believe the author. “Into Thin Air” is a good example because it told us step by step on how to climb the mountain.
