Although women uphold the majority of Canada’s population, society fail to recognize that their inequality is invisible because we see it as being normal, substantial and accepted. The lives they live are characterized by a lack of control over all conditions of their lives, their bodies, their sexuality, their home, and their place of employment. It is simple to say that they are devalued as human beings, exploited as workers and the don’t hold power in institutions that employee them. This designates women to work in ill-paid female ghettos, to work part-time shifts, they receive fewer job protections, less access to unionization, benefits and pensions.
