Every so often a film comes along that leaves you literally stunned by its brilliance. By the time the credits rolled, I was left sitting in my seat, unable to move, with a smile on my face; for I was sure I had just witnessed greatness. Such is the allure of Shine, written by Jan Sardi and directed by Scott Hicks. Before viewing Shine I had never heard of the film. Now I am sure I will never forget the true story of the piano virtuoso David Helfgott who achieves greatness against all odds.
