“Discuss the use of one repeated symbol or set of symbols, in Jane Eyre”
In Jane Eyre Charlotte Bronte uses a wide range of imagery in order to give her characters depth and also to highlight other themes in the novel. The specific use of imagery relating to that of birds is what I have found to be the most widely used through out.
In the beginning Jane is found to be dwelling on solitary thoughts of lands far away filled with nothing. Content to amuse herself after being continuously shelved by the Reeds. Bronte has Jane reading “Thomas Bewicks’s History of British Birds” a book being looked at merely for its pictures, rather than its text “
