I would have to say that the two words that resonate throughout this entire case are “market share.” Being that market share is one of the most definitive tools to implicate monopolization, the government’s heightened focus on it is understandable. However, the government went one step further to try to show that Microsoft had a deeper market infiltration with its’ hush-hush deals with manufacturers.
