The “Empress of Sorrow” painting by Eric Fischl is similar to other paintings of his in the sense of style. ‘Oil on Linen’ was a technique Eric Fischl used a lot throughout his career but mostly in the beginning and middle. “Empress of Sorrow” was painted in 1992, which would place this painting in the times during his unique characteristic composition of Fischl with his most common technique used to paint.
