Henry VIII was responsible for the execution on two of his wives. According to J. Ridley in Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn was the sister of one of Henry’s many mistresses. She had been raised at the French court. Henry and Anne fell in love, but she refused to live with him if he did not propose. Henry would have propose, but he already had a wife, Catherine of Aragon. Determined to have a male heir to the throne, Henry divorced Catherine and married Anne Boleyn (2).
