The criminal justice system treats sex offenses as unforgivable and it uses a variety of techniques to detain convicted sex offenders from committing sex crimes again. While it is the aim the criminal justice system to deter future crime, most other crimes do not require community notification or civil commitment as some states require for sex offenders.
