Haughty Hubris:
The Role of Hubris in Oedipus Rex
In the well known play Oedipus Rex the playwright, Sophocles, is concerned with the political vice of hubris. The theme of confidence and hubris plays a colossal role. Hubris caused willingness to ignore the truth, and when two people are confident in what they believe in and their thoughts contradict each, other it leads to violent disputes. Confidence, on the other hand, helped Oedipus and a lot of people discover the truth.
