The Crucible, Arthur Miller’s play, describes the reasons that people have to lie, for example; Abigail Williams and John Proctor. Abigail lies to get closer to John and also lies to protect herself. On the other hand John lies to get out of trouble. Throughout this play the characters live by lying. Arthur Miller’s play shows the reasons that people have to lie. This play takes place in Salem, Mass. and it’s all about withcraft. The main characters are involved in witch trials and they also lie for this reason. Abigail and John are some of the characters that lie to protect themselves and play clean. Abigail is the nice of Rev. Parris and used to work in John Proctor’s home.
