Kant apparently believed that each of us is subjected to a stream of raw sensory data, flowing toward our conscious awareness. This data is shaped by us, even before it reaches the level of consciousness, in significant ways. In particular, much of it is given a spatial character in terms of the kind of space we think of ourselves as living in-basically three-dimensional Euclidean space, and all of it is given a temporal character in terms of the familiar features of time.
