A 1999 National Sleep Foundation survey found that 60% of children under the age of 18 complained that they were tired during the day, and 15% told researchers that they fell asleep during the school day. To solve problems of sleep deprivations in the school system there are many solutions. Some of them include school year round, block scheduling, and later class days. Chicago schools have been experiencing year-round schooling since 1997 and has found it is very productive. “Keeping schools open year-round makes it possible to rearrange class time to make it much more productive,” said Molly A.
