Passive euthanasia is an accepted medical practice where a terminally ill patient is allowed to die. Passive euthanasia takes place when the patient refuses treatment and they may also refuse food, medical treatment or may demand to be taken off respirators which can result in a lingering, drawn out, and times agonizing death. People in support of passive euthanasia typically claim that this form of death allows a person to die with dignity, ends their suffering, or gives the patient the right of self-determination.
