Roman, Byzantium and Christian Frescoes

There are several different religions, but Christianity appears more so in religious art. The artist incorporates subjects that range from the birth and death of Jesus Christ to stories of other biblical characters. Many of these subjects are depicted in fresco, a painting technique in which water based pigments are applied to fresh wet plaster, usually on wall surfaces (“Fresco Painting” 1)Mosaics, a design or picture created by inlaying pieces of colored glass, stone, or tile in mortar, was more so popular among the Byzantine (Benton and DiYanni 616).
