In Charles Simic’s poetry, he was able to incorporate much of his childhood experiences with flashbacks of growing up in Central Europe during World War II and often depicted events in colors of dark and dismal attitudes. Also, he often expressed his dissatisfaction of nationalist and totalitarian government in much of his work. This was also something of which George Orwell was able to incorporate in much of his writings; especially within the works of 1984, you can see this same type of philosophy and expressions of dreary and grey attitudes.
I truly enjoyed reading Simic’s poetry. He’s not wordy, and even though his poems are quite short, they resemble so much about his inner character with a clear portrait of the world that
