As citizens of the United States, our families all have unique backgrounds. The one thing that these backgrounds have in common is that they all can be traced to a land other than our United States. If you want to go back in time far enough, even those considered Native Americans did not originate here. But somewhere along the line of people finding this land and inhabiting it, someone decided that only certain people would be allowed in. These people set standards and made laws about who would be accepted and who would be rejected. To this day we have these rules: immigration laws.
